I am an advanced PhD student studying Rhetoric and Composition at Georgia State University. I strive to create student-centered classrooms that force students to step outside of their comfort zone. My students engage in assignments that force them to think critically and question long held beliefs. This blog serves as a space for my students to check for new announcements, review current assignments, and as an example of how to use technology in a traditional writing course.
My current doctoral research focuses on transforming hush harbor rhetoric into a pedagogical tool in first year composition courses/writing centers. I am inspired by bell hooks, Jacqueline Jones-Royster, Vorris Nunley, and Mike Rose. I hope to one day serve as a consultant for writing programs across the nation.
